Hello Fan-Nites,
Being the time of year as it is I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will speak to you all next year in February. I will be out of the country so to speak until then. No, I am not being a fugitive. It is a family thing. You know how that goes, right? Let’s get down to business
This past few months more or less we talked of independent publishing. I ranted and raved that we should do our own distributorship, etc. I still think we should do that though I think we should limited to just our members only. Members that are having a hard time to go through the major distributor entity named Diamond. It has come to my attention of two distributorships that specialize in small press
The two distributorships I came across are Bulldog and Cold Cut. Bulldog seems to have some controversy with DC and their contracts with them. I will look for that article since my memory is not that well on this. There info is:
Editors Note: It is quite possible that freewebs.com/bulldogcomics is not associated to the distributorship. I am trying to find out for sure. Hopefully by Feb. 2005 I will be able to update that info.
The following are the information for the two most popular printers for small press. The contact info I got from www.members.shaw.ca/creatingcomics/publishing.html. I should say these are the ones that California creators use, anyway. It is info I wish to share. I hope it helps.
You my have already picked your own publishing or printer company. Some creators out here told me that these two were the most popular for small press because they don’t have a minimum standard. You may have to check but I was told you could do a print run of as low as 50. I don’t know for sure. I still have to see. I hope this helps or at least assist you in looking into publishing businesses and the like. I am always thinking of you and always looking to serve my Interfan family.
