Editorial thoughts and musings by Anthony Gagliardo

Hello Fan Nites, I hope all is well with each and every one of you. There are a lot of natural tragedies these days in the United States and elsewhere, and recently, China with their earthquake. These are called "sign of the times" as you may have heard from some religious programs and such. Though we may each give silent prayers to all people with tragedies, I think it is also fair to say that we need this time of escape. .

Movies are coming out that needs our attention. The Avengers movie seems to be in the works. Of course there is Iron Man that is out. The Hulk Movie number two coming out with Iron Man making a cameo. It could be just the alter ego. I am not sure at this time. Shooting will start soon with the second installment of the new Superman series. Dark Knight will be out shortly with its own tragedy in the midst of making it. There is talk of JLA. Even the Spirit will be out soon. This is a great time for escapism.

IWe as small press can also lend a helping hand. We could make a extended anthology book to donate proceeds to any of the organization that is helping a cause that tugs at our hearts.

Escapism is not new. In our nations history in the peek of the Depression in 1939 seemed to be a gold mine for movie executives. Two movies come to mind, "Gone with the Wind" and "Wizard of Oz". These became great classics. Even now these movies you can escape to when you feel down.

For being independent small press contributors we have a responsibility to help others escape, even for just a moment in time to enjoy a moment of thrill or emotion through the roller coaster ride of a great read, be it celluloid or comic books. Keep on keeping on. You are all great at what you do, for the love of it and for the independence of it.

Take Care
